BE&K Adds Three Top Executives
to D.C. Office
Skinner and Sloan leave Bovis Lend Lease and join BE&K.
Fleger moves over from Opus East.

BE&K Building Group of
Washington, D.C., recently hired three new members to its
staff. Stephen Skinner joined
the company as executive vice president. Michael
Sloan is the new senior vice president of operations
at BE&K. Both Sloan and Skinner previously worked at Bovis
Lend Lease. Dwayne Fleger, previously
with Opus East, LLC, has been appointed as Vice President
of Operations.
URS Corp. of Gaithersburg,
Md., recently named Randall Wotring
president of the company's EG&G division. In his new role,
Wotring will oversee all operations for EG&G, which provides
a range of operations, maintenance, and systems engineering
and technical support services primarily to the federal government
market. Wotring previously served as vice president and general
manager, engineering and technology services at EG&G,
where he oversaw day-to-day operations. Wotring has more than
20 years of experience with EG&G.
Skanska USA Building of Rockville,
Md., recently promoted David Miller
to senior vice president of the company's Washington, D.C./Baltimore
office. Miller has more than 20 years of experience in all
phases of construction, including contract management, estimating,
scheduling and field supervision. He joined Skanska in 1994
and has held positions as project manager, project executive
and most recently as vice president and general manager of
the Washington, D.C./Baltimore office.
James G. Davis recently promoted
two of its staff members. Gary Ball
is now vice president. Gary specializes in complex base building,
renovation, and tenant build-outs for GSA, law firms, telecommunications,
and high technology clients. His background includes six years
in the Army Corps of Engineers. Tony
Lee has been named senior superintendent. Tony has
more than 23 years of construction experience and joined James
G. Davis in 2000.
WDG Architecture of Washington,
D.C., recently hired Robert Keane
as a senior associate. Prior to joining WDG, Keane spent 17
years at Design Collective of Baltimore, Md., most recently
serving as senior associate. In his new position, he will
guide design efforts for the short term in the high-rise residential
studio at WDG before embarking on the establishment of WDG's
stance in the higher education market sector.
Grunley Construction of Rockville,
Md., recently announced the addition of five staff members.
Michael Fadrowski was hired
as superintendent at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Modernization
of the South Building, a $19.5 million project. John
Haines was named superintendent at the $87 million
National Archives renovation project. Brian
Parker was named quality control manager for the U.S.
Department of the Interior modernization project. Carolyn
McLean joined the firm as assistant project manager
for the U.S. Supreme Court modernization project. Erich
Millar was named assistant project manager on two International
Monetary Fund projects and one Andrews Air Force Base sprinkler
job.
Hazen and Sawyer Environmental Engineers
& Scientists recently hired James
A. Avirett as vice president and manager of the firm's
branch office in Baltimore, Md. Avirett has 33 years of experience
in planning, design and construction management of water and
wastewater treatment and conveyance facilities, including
large pumping stations and large-diameter pipelines. Prior
to joining the company he was a partner in the regional firm
of Whitman, Requardt & Assoc. of Baltimore, Md. He served
in that role for 17 years.
The American Society of Landscape
Architects inducted Patrick
Miller as president for 2005. Miller teaches in the
Landscape Architecture Dept. at Virginia Polytechnic Institute
and State University. Dennis Carmichael
was inducted as president-elect for 2005. Carmichael is a
principal at EADW in Alexandria, Va. ASLA also inducted 32
new members into its Council of Fellows. Warren
T. Byrd, Jr. of Charlottesville, Va., and Elliot
Rhodeside of Alexandria, Va., are two mid-Atlantic-based
members among the inductees.
