Skanska USA Appoints Regional Heads

Skanska USA has appointed several executives to head the Mid-Atlantic and southeast regions for the company. Also, Vollmer Associates opens a new office in Alexandria.

NEW HIRES

Stephen Dalton has been appointed executive vice president of Tishman Construction Corporation of D.C., a construction management, design/build, project management and general contracting firm based in Washington, D.C. Jeffrey Dodd has been promoted to senior vice president.

Richard Shelton has been named director of Department of Defense programs within the Federal Programs operations unit of Dewberry, an engineering, architectural, program management, and planning firm based in Fairfax, Va. David Mathias has been named client manager for the firm's naval programs.

Lynn Wardour has been named vice president of pre-construction at Hubert Construction of Gaithersburg, Md. Christopher Craig has been hired as a project executive with the firm.

William Johnson has been named senior director of purchasing and project controls of Skanska USA Building's Blue Bell, Pa., office. Additionally, Rodney Cornell has been promoted to Area General Manager for the Rockville, Md., office of Skanska USA Building.

Lewis Saylor has joined The Dietze Construction Group of Chantilly, Va., as an assistant project manager. Also, James Dougherty and Robert Ehardt have been promoted to senior vice presidents of construction at the firm.

Women's Transportation Seminar, an international organization for the advancement of women in transportation, has appointed Diane James as its executive director. James will lead the Washington, D.C., office.

Richard (Dick) Burgoyne has joined the civil engineering department of Patton Harris Rust & Associates of Chantilly, Va., as project director.

Jamal Anwar has joined Greenman-Pedersen of Rockville, Md., as a mechanical engineer. Andre Nguyen has joined the firm as an electrical engineer.

Thomas Mulquin has joined Scott-Long Construction of Chantilly, Va., as senior project manager.

Berry Wright, Jr., has been named senior project manager at the Richmond, Va., office of HDR, an architecture and engineering firm based in Omaha, Neb.

Lynn Ward has been hired as marketing coordinator and horticulturist/landscape designer at Thor, Inc., of Roanoke, VA,

PROMOTIONS

William Waffle and Stanley Tang have been promoted to principals at Bower Lewis Thrower Architects, an architecture and interior design firm based in Philadelphia, Pa. In addition, Kevin Aires, Colby Cauchon, Megan Delevan, Jean-Francois Gervais, Donna Lisle, Kim Seibert, and Harry Stenger have been promoted to associates.

Peter Mac Kenna has been appointed executive vice president of Skanska USA Civil's southeast region. Mac Kenna will also continue as the firm's president-Underpinning and Foundation Skanska. Bob Rose has been named president of Atlantic Skanska, the company's southeastern unit, and Andy Ord has been appointed president of Tidewater Skanska, the company's operations in the Mid-Atlantic and southeast.

Kevin Mitchell, Brown Pinkney, Jr., and Robert Reever have been promoted to senior project managers at Grunley Construction of Rockville, Md. In addition, Ryan Barney, Tom Catherwood, David Green, and Greg McHugh have been promoted to project managers.

Kimberly Rhodes has been named project executive for the Bethesda. Md., office of Bovis Lend Lease, a general contractor based in New York.

Girard Engineering a mechanical/electrical consulting engineering firm based in McLean, Va., has promoted several staff members. Larry Beam has been promoted to president; Laura Linn has been promoted to federal marketing director; Doug Menchhofer has been named head of the mechanical engineering department; Daniel Dent has been named chief mechanical engineer; David Ullmann has been promoted to chief electrical engineer; and J. Andrew Marusich has been promoted to head of the electrical engineering department.

Princeton, N.J.-based Hillier Architecture has announced several promotions. Sonja Bijelic and James Garrison have been named associate principals; Richard Ortega and Rosemarie Fabien have been promoted to senior associates; and Robert Donaldson, David Moos, Despina Raggousis, and Amy Agurkis Rees have been named associates. In addition, the company hired Patty Moffitt as an interior designer and John Moran as design architect.

AvalonBay Communities, a real estate developer based in Alexandria, Va., has recently promoted Sean Breslin and Sean Sullivan to senior vice presidents. Duane Carlson, Sarah Mathewson, Keri Shea, and Phil Wharton have been named vice presidents.

Stephen R. Papp has been promoted to senior vice president of Field Operations at Donohoe Construction of Washington, D.C. Robert McNeil has been promoted to vice president of operations.

Kevin Farquhar, Alicia Goldberg, Candace Hoskins, Stephen Ours, and Steven Weir have been promoted to vice president in the Alexandria, Va., headquarters of the architectural and planning firm Wisnewski Blair & Associates.

The Washington, D.C., office of DMJM Design, an architecture and engineering firm based in Los Angeles, has promoted Jeannie Gasper, Kristine Johnson, Tom McMennamin, M. Edward Murphy, Kevin Patterson, Issa Sherzad, Brandi Wallis, Perri Walsh, Randy Brockington, Leigh Valudes, and Ted Huynh, to associates.

Steve Schwat, Kees Bruggen, and Wout Coster have been promoted to senior vice presidents of ZOM, the Orlando-based real estate development firm that recently merged with Washington, D.C.,-based Urban Investment Partners, where the three are principals.

J. Michael Riemann and Alexander H. Heist, engineers at the Becker Morgan Group of Salisbury, Md., have earned the Professional Engineer license. Also, the company's Charles (Bucky) Dennig, Jr., has become a Maryland Professional Land Surveyor.

HONORS AND APPOINTMENTS

Eric Tievey, senior purchasing manager for Forrester Construction Co., a construction management firm based in Rockville, Md., has been recognized for his commitment and named Beam Club Member of the Year by the Associated Builders and Contractors of Metro Washington.
